- The principle that where one cotenant has paid a debt or obligation for the benefit of the common property, has discharged a lien or assessment imposed against it, or has purchased an outstanding title, with his own money, he is entitled to have his cotenant or cotenants refund to him their proportionate shares of the amount paid by him or else abandon their interests in the property.
