Articles of Confederation
The instrument forming the Confederation of the original thirteen states of the Union which was in force from March 1, 1781, to March 4, 1789. Owings v Speed, 18 US (5 Wheat) 420, 5 L Ed 124. It formed a mere league of states, not a union of, states in a nation, as did the Constitution which superseded it.
