mensura domini regis

mensura domini regis
The measure of our lord, the king. The original standard of measure was so called, and that of weight was called pondus regis, weight of the king. These standards were established by parliament and subsequent statutes directed them to be kept in the exchequer and required that all weights and measures should conform to them, but the requirement was most difficult to enforce. See 1 Bl Comm 276.
