discontinuance
In the modern sense of the term, a voluntary dismissal or the taking of a nonsuit; at early common law, the failure of a litigant to continue his suit regularly from day to day or from term to term between the commencement of the action and final judgment. 24 Am J2d Dism § 2. The abandonment of work on a project. The abandonment of a use which is nonconforming under a zoning ordinance. Anno: 18 ALR2d 729.
