cross bill
A bill of complaint by a defendant against a complainant, against a codefendant or codefendants, or against both a complainant and codefendant, upon a subject appearing in the complainant's bill. The pleading by cross bill is auxiliary to the original suit and dependent thereon, and the result of filing or serving a cross bill is that from this juncture and the suit comprises two interrelated and consolidated actions. 19 Am J2d Eq § 211.
