corporate authorities
Those officers of cities and villages to whom is given the ordinance-making power; the legislative branch of a city government. State ex rel. Gerry v Edwards, 42 Mont 135, 111 P 734. The term has also been defined as referring to those municipal officers who are either directly elected by the people of the municipality, or appointed in some mode to which the people have given their assent. Boolen v Pinson, 27 W Va 412, 89 SE 985; 51 Am J1st Tax § 137.
