convict labor
The performance of services by convicts hired out to employers of labor. 21 Am J2d Crim L § 615. A statutory provision which forbids the hiring out of convicts, except under order of the court, embodied in the sentence, applies only to farming out convicts to individuals and corporations, and does not extend to labor employed upon public works, and under the supervision and control of public agents.
