confined to bed

confined to bed
A familiar term in the law of health and accident insurance, as to which there is divergence of opinion in interpretation, some cases holding that the term is satisfied only by an actual confinement to bed, while other cases hold that the term is intended to express a required degree of disability, not necessarily an actual confinement to bed. 29A Am J Rev ed Ins § 1531.
