Chinese Exclusion Act

Chinese Exclusion Act
A former statute, enacted in 1882, amended in 1884, in pursuance of a policy since abandoned of forbidding the emigration of Chinese to the United States, except as the purpose of their coming, such as education, might provide a reason for relaxing the prohibition.
