characterization
A statement of the distinguishing characteristics of a person by way of representing him to others. A technical term for determining the nature of the question before the court, as one of tort, contract, etc. in order to determine the law applicable as between the laws of two or more jurisdictions. 16 Am J2d Contr § 3.
