An accounting term used in financial statements to indicate the obligations of a business remaining unpaid; a form of designation of payee which renders the instrument a bearer instrument. 11 Am J2d B & N § 124. An ordinary promissory note is a "bill payable" within a statute prohibiting bank cashiers from issuing "bills payable" without consent of the directors. W. J.
