writ of association

writ of association
A writ issued under the authority of statutes of Edward I and II whereby certain persons (usually the clerk of assize and his subordinate officers) were directed to associate themselves with the justices and serjeants so that a sufficient supply of commissioners for the assizes might always be had. See 3 Bl Comm 59.
