A hearing officer of an administrative agency, comparable to an auditor or special master of a court. Annotation: 89 ALR 426, s. 171 ALR 782; 2 Am J2d Admin L § 407. An officer of the National Labor Relations Board who conducts hearings and receives evidence in proceedings under the National Labor Relations Act. 31 Am J Rev , ed Lab § 297.
