The standard man; the average prudent individual; the reasonable and prudent man or the careful and diligent man. An abstract man of ordinary mental and physical capacity, but an ideal man in the sense that his conduct is in every case the gauge of due care under the circumstances, notwithstanding the precautions attributed to him are not those of usage and custom. 38 Am J1st Negl § 30.
