Ship Mortgage Act
A federal statute regulating mortgages covering vessels registered or enrolled as United States vessels. 46 USC §§ 911 et seq. A statute which provides for a maritime lien enforceable by suit in rein in favor of any person furnishing repairs, supplies, towage, use of drydock, marine railway, or other necessaries to a vessel upon the order of the owner or of a person authorized by the owner. 46 USC § 971.
