representative form of government

representative form of government
A government conducted and constituted by the agency of representatives, delegates, or deputies chosen by the people in regularly recurring elections. The definition is held to express fairly the modern American idea of such a government. "A fraternal benefit association must have a representative form of government. This requires that the directors or other officers who have general charge and control of the property and business of' the society and the management of its affairs shall be chosen by the membership thereof." Lange v Royal Highlanders, 75 Neb 188, 106 NW 224, 110 NW 1100.
