principal place of business

principal place of business
The criterion of the residence or nonresidence of a corporation. 36 Am J2d For Corp § 38. As a venue for the adjudication of a debtor in bankruptcy, the place where the debtor's personal business affairs are conducted, notwithstanding his principal income is from a business conducted elsewhere. Re Knox (CA6 Tenn) 11 F2d 743. The principal place of business of a corporation is that place which has been designated by the corporation in compliance with, and in the manner prescribed by statute. That place is often the principal or main office of the company in the case of a domestic corporation, but obviously the principal place of business as here defined is not necessarily the office of the corporation. State v Vincent, 144 Wash 246, 257 P 849.
