perpetuity of the king

perpetuity of the king
The attribute of absolute immortality which the law of England ascribes to the king, in his political capacity. Henry, Edward, or George may die, but the king survives them all. For, immediately upon the decease of the reigning prince, in his natural capacity, his kingship or imperial dignity, by act of law, without any interregnum or interval, is vested eo instanti in his heir. See 1 Bl Comm 249.
