An annexation of territory to a municipal corporation under proceedings which are defective as distinguished from wholly unauthorized. 37 Am J1st Mun Corp § 32. Even an unauthorized annexation, as one under an unconstitutional statute, may by lapse of time ripen into a de facto annexation, the right of a private citizen or taxpayer to complain having been barred by laches. 37 Am J1st Mun Corp § 32.
