market overt

market overt
An open, public, and legally constituted market. In England, sales in market overt are an exception to the rule that no one can transfer even to a bona fide purchaser any greater or better title than he himself has. The established American doctrine is that a purchaser in a public, open market acquires no better title to goods than if he had bought them elsewhere. 46 Am J1st Sales § 462.
