Struck down; knocked off one's feet by a violent blow. An expression used in auction sales, meaning "sold." 7 Am J2d Auct § 31. In the language of the auction room, and in common parlance, property is said to be "struck off" or "knocked down" when the auctioneer, by the fall of his hammer, or by any other audible or visible announcement, signifies to the bidder that he is entitled to the property on paying the amount of his bid, according to the terms of the sale.
