- A familiar cause of highway accidents, being a movement of a trailer contrary to the movement of the tractor, so that, joined together, they bend in the middle. 8 Am J2d Auto § 715. The movement known as jacknifing will result from the application of brakes to the tractor without putting on the brakes of the trailer.
