hostile fire
A term familiar in the law of fire insurance as signifying the opposite of friendly fire. A fire unexpected, unintended, not anticipated, in a place not intended for it to be and where fire is not ordinarily maintained, or a fire which has "escaped" in the usual and ordinary sense of the word. 29A Am J Rev ed Ins § 1287.
