hands of justice
A familiar term in exceptions from the risk found in life insurance policies, meaning an act performed under public authority, as by a police officer in the discharge of his duty. Not including the killing by a husband of the paramour of his wife, although under the circumstances and the law, such killing is a justifiable homicide. Supreme Lodge, K.
