The status of a person who has reached the age of majority, usually, as at common law, the completion of the twenty-first year, but in some jurisdictions, in respect of females, the end of the eighteenth year. 27 Am J1st Inf § 5. The status of a person who has become an adult in the eyes of the law by a proceeding removing the disability of infancy or, as provided by statute in some jurisdictions, by marriage. 27 Am J1st Inf § 5.
