A mutual benefit society. As defined by statute in one jurisdiction, a corporation, society, or voluntary association, organized and carried on for the sole benefit of its members, and their beneficiaries, and not for profit, and in which the payment of death benefits shall be for families, heirs, blood relatives, affianced husband or wife, or dependents.
