A person who committed the ancient offense of forestalling the market. 36 Am J1st Monop etc. § 20. A tenant who by an ancient method of forestalling worked a disseisin of freehold rent either by besetting the way with force and arms or by threats of bodily violence so frightening the landlord as to keep him off the premises. See 3 Bl Comm 170.
