foot of the fine
The fifth or concluding part of a fine. This part included the whole proceeding, reciting the parties, day, year, and place, and before whom the fine was acknowledged or levied. Indentures of this were made, or engrossed at the chirographer's office, and delivered to the cognizor and the cognizee; usually beginning, "haec est finalis concordia," this is the final agreement, and then reciting the whole proceeding at length.
