express direction
As the term appears in a statute of frauds which requires a writing signed by the party to the contract sought to be charged or by another at his "express direction": –any word or act intended as a direction to sign, the term not being limited to a direction in words. Ex parte: Leonard, 39 SC 302, 18 SE 216.
