Entry into one of the armed services other than as a commissioned officer. In the popular sense, entering the service voluntarily. The contract of service which one other than a commissioned officer enters into with the government. 36 Am J1st Mil § 26. Constituting either an original undertaking or a renewal of an original undertaking known as a reenlistment. 10 USC § 3251.
