distributive justice

distributive justice
A concept exemplified by the maxim:–"Unto each shall be rendered that which is his." A guaranty of the due process clause. Due process of law, in spite of the absolutism of continental governments, is not alien to that code which survived the Roman Empire as the foundation of modern civilization in Europe, and which has given us that fundamental maxim of distributive justice. Hurtado v California, 110 US 516, 531, 28 L Ed 232, 237, 4 S Ct 111, 292.
