decimae

decimae
Tenths; tithes; the tenth part of the annual profit of each clergyman's living. Originally these tithes went to the pope, but with the end of papal authority in the reign of Henry the Eighth, they were transferred to the king as the head of the church. See 1 Bl Comm 284.
