- the parol demur
- An old common-law expression for a stay to await the expiration of time removing the disability of a party. When the heir was sued upon a specialty obligation of the ancestor chargeable on the inheritance, if he was an infant he might pray that "the parol demur" until he should reach his majority. See 27 Am J1st Inf § 157.
