matrimonial action
An action predicated upon the marital relation, such as an action for divorce, for separate maintenance, or for an annulment of a marriage. Causes involving the marriage relation; causes involving injuries respecting the rights of marriage, including jactitation of marriage (formerly), specific performance of marriage contracts, restoration of conjugal rights, separate maintenance and alimony.
