crossed check

crossed check
A name given to a system long recognized as valid in England whereby there is stamped across a check the name of a certain banker through whom it must be presented for payment, and if presented by anyone else, payment must be refused. Farmers' Bank v Johnson, 134 Ga 486, 68 SE 85.
