control of child

control of child
The exercise of guardianship, whether that existing by nature, as in the case of a parent, or by operation of law, as in the case of a guardian, over a child, directing him and imposing discipline as direction and discipline are required. A person to whom the control of a child is intrusted ordinarily has the care and the custody of the child, but the word may be so used as to convey the idea that the person may be intrusted with a legal power to direct and dispose of the child without having actual physical care and custody. Cowley v People, 83 NY 464.
