compensation, wages, or hire

compensation, wages, or hire
As the term is used in a statute requiring a driver's license, the term means something more than the operation of a motor vehicle as a mere incident of the business of one's employer. Matthews v State, 85 Tex Crim 469. 214 SW 339.
