commissioned officer
One who holds as evidence of right to office a commission signed by the president. Stephens v Civil Service Comm. 101 NJL 192, 127 A 808; any civil officer who has a written commission as evidence of his authority to hold and execute the authority of an office; one who holds rank in the military service under a commission issued by the proper authority.
