charterer
A person who in his own right, is entitled to possess, use, and have the benefits resulting from the use of the thing hired or chartered, and those rights must be acquired by contract with persons having such dominion over the thing hired or chartered as enables them to confer on the hirer or charterer the right to use the thing hired or chartered, and to have the benefits resulting therefrom. Turner v Cross, 83 Tex 218, 18 SW 578. A person who by contract acquires the right to use a vessel belonging to another person, in other words the lessee or grantee of a vessel under a charter or charter party of the vessel.
