certiorari

certiorari
A method of review of the action taken by an administrative agency. 2 Am J2d Admin L § 625; a writ issued by a superior to an inferior court of record, or to some other tribunal or officer exercising a judicial function, requiring the certification and return of the record and proceedings in order that the record may be revised and corrected in matters of law. It is a common law writ, but usually provided for by statute. 14 Am J2d Cert § 1.
