Capper-Volstead Act

Capper-Volstead Act
A federal statute which authorizes producers or agricultural products to act together in collectively processing, preparing for market, handling, and marketing their products in interstate commerce, to have marketing agencies in common, and to make the necessary contracts and agreements to effect such purposes, and gives to the Secretary of Agriculture the powers of regulation and visitation where he has reason to believe that any such enterprise in co-operation has monopolized or restrained trade to the extent that the price of an agricultural commodity has been unduly enhanced. 7 USC §§ 291 et seq.
