Material used in the construction of a building or other structure. In order to be lienable under the mechanics' lien law, the material must be such, both as to quantity and quality, and of a kind, that would induce a careful, prudent, and skilful man, acquainted with the building or other structure, to believe that it could be used in its erection, unless the material is furnished upon the order of the owner of the property under improvement, since he, of course, may pledge his own property for any kind of material. 36 Am J1st Mech L § 60.
