widower

widower
A man of single status because of the death of his wife. As it is used in the statutes of descent, the word has been held to mean one who has been reduced to single status by the ordinary and usual vicissitudes of life, and not one who, by felonious act, has himself created that condition. Perry v Straw-bridge, 209 Mo 621, 108 SW 641.
