The system employed by a water company or municipality in furnishing water for residences, places of business, factories, or industrial plants. 56 Am J1st Watwk § 2. The word has been construed to mean and include a water supply system in its entirety, or any integral part thereof, including mains, hydrants, standpipes, impounding reservoirs, purification plants and other enumerated items.
