violation of law: To fail to observe the law whether by act of commission or omission. State v Case, 53 Mo 246, 250. In its ordinary sense, the expression includes the violation of a positive law, whether the law is a civil or a criminal law. See Bloom v Franklin Life Ins. Co. 97 Ind 478. As to what constitutes a "violation of law as to age," within the meaning of the phrase as it appears in an exclusion clause of an automobile insurance policy, see Anno: 72 ALR 1079.
