Verb: To go from one place to another. To make a trip. To pass over a public way for the purpose of business, convenience, or pleasure. 25 Am J1st High § 427. Ex parte Archy, 9 Cal 147, 164. To travel is to pass or make a journey from place to place, whether on foot, on horseback, or in any conveyance. Traveling is the act of making a journey; change of place; passage. The word "traveling," as used in some penal statutes, may have a narrow meaning; but, in order to maintain an action against a city or town for a defect in a highway, one need be a traveler only in the general sense above indicated. Hendry v North Hampton, 72 NH 351, 56 A 922. A person is still "traveling" while delayed for a short time by an unforeseen accident. See Ex parte Archy, 9 Cal 147, 164.
