The carriage of persons or property from one point to another. Removing a person from the country by way of punishment upon his convic tion of an offense against the laws of the country. As used in the Interstate Commerce Act:-not only the physical instrumentalities, but all services in connection with the receipt, delivery, elevation, transfer in transit, ventilation, refrigeration or icing, storage, and handling of the property transported. 49 USC The word is used in constitutional provisions and statutes relating to intoxicating liquor in its ordinary sense. It comprehends any real carrying about, from one place to another, or a substantial movement of liquor from one place or vicinity to another, whether on the person or in a vehicle. 30 Am 1 Rev ed Intox L § 40. Under the Interstate Commerce Act authorizing the Interstate Commerce Commission to adjust rates to meet "transportation conditions," such conditions may and should include conditions other than mere operating conditions.
