tax deed
A deed evidencing the conveyance of title to premises sold at a sale for the nonpayment of taxes assessed thereon, which is ordinarily executed by the tax collector and by him delivered to the purchaser at the sale. In some jurisdictions the deed is executed and delivered immediately after the sale and the title conveyed is subject to defeasance by the redemption of the property; in others the deed is not delivered until the period of redemption has expired. 51 Am J1st Tax § 1082.
