special errand rule
The rule that where an employee's duties require him to circulate in a general area with no fixed place or hours of employment, or to go to and from his home to various outside places of work, and his employer furnishes him with a motor vehicle to use in his work, it can be found that he continues in the service of his employer, for the purposes of the liability of his employer for an injury resulting from his negligence in the operation of the vehicle, until he actually reaches home.
