rusticum jus
Rustic or simple justice. "The application of an equal division of damages (in cases of marine collision) is said to be the `rusticum jus.' That is to say, it is an application of that sense of fair dealing and of justice imbedded in our nature, the conclusions of common sense, of a mind `abnormis sapiens' (one of nature's philosophers)."
